Cross Related with Alastair Roberts

Single or married, young or old, male or female. These differences are real and meaningful. But the world has a way of grabbing hold of them and turning them into sharp, stubborn dividing lines between us. The gospel tells a better story. The same cross that reconciles us to God also redraws the lines between us—bridging the divides that separate us and calling us into a new and beautiful kind of life together.

At this special event, leading writer, theologian, and podcaster Dr Alastair Roberts will help us consider how relationships reshaped by the gospel bring glory to Christ, build up his people, and offer a compelling witness to a fractured and fragile world.  Join us for an evening of rich biblical reflection, real-life conversation.

PLUS the launch of the next exciting season of ministry for Single Minded!

Dr Alastair Roberts is a Professor for Davenant Hall and an Adjunct Senior Fellow for the Theopolis Institute. He and his wife, Susannah divide their time between the English West Midlands and Manhattan. He is an author of Echoes of Exodus: Tracing Themes of Redemption Through Scripture (Crossway, 2018) and is producing a free chapter-by-chapter audio commentary on the entire Bible.

He participates in the Mere Fidelity and Theopolis podcasts, posts regularly on his YouTube channel and his Anchored Argosy Substack.

Because we care deeply about discipleship that happens in real-life, embodied Christian community we want to facilitate teaching and conversations that happen in the same room, face-to-face and in relationship with each other. Since Covid, many of us have drifted out of the habit of gathering like that. We think it has been a real loss, and we’d love to help encourage it again.

So for this June event in Sydney, the first 50 people who register for an in-person ticket will receive a FREE copy of Shelby Abbott’s book Why We’re Feeling Lonely (normally $22.99) which we’ll be discussing at our September webinar with Shelby.

Register early to make sure you don’t miss out!

Event FAQs

Yes! All tickets include access to the recording link so that you can watch it later if you are unable to attend or watch live.

However, we encourage people to participate live if possible, and even better, to gather with others to watch together.

Livestreams and online events can be a real gift. They also allow us to hear from speakers who are located in other countries and time-zones.

But because we care deeply about discipleship that happens in real-life, embodied Christian community, we believe important Christian teaching and conversations  are best had in the same room, face-to-face and in relationship with each other wherever possible.

Since Covid, many of us have drifted out of the habit of gathering like that. We think it has been a real loss and we’d love to help encourage it again.

As such, we try to have in-person attendance options for as many of our events as possible and do our best to encourage people towards joining us in the room where it happens!

We aim to keep our events as accessible as possible.  At the same time, running events —even online events—involves a range of real costs.

These include:

  • livestream production
  • technology platforms and software subscriptions
  • administration costs and staff time
  • honorariums for our guest speakers

We try to keep our ticket prices as low as possible while also covering those costs and ensuring we can continue offering high-quality and biblically faithful teaching and resources.

However, ticket income only covers a small part of the true cost of ministry, which is why the generosity of our financial partners also plays such an important role in keeping the ministry going and growing.

Yes. Many of our events include church licenses or small/large group tickets  that allow multiple people to participate together at a reduced cost.

These options are designed to encourage churches, small groups, and ministry teams to engage with the material together rather than individually.

Our financial partners play a vital role in making our ministry possible. From time to time we host partner-exclusive events as a way of saying thank you, sharing ministry updates more personally, and giving those who support the work an opportunity to hear more about what God is doing through the ministry.

These gatherings are not intended to create an “inner circle,” but simply to express our gratitude and deepen the relationship with those who have chosen to invest in the ministry in this particular way.

Yes! We want to encourage churches and ministries to become regional hubs for our events.

This involves opening your building so people in your congregation—and others in your area—can gather together to participate in the livestream.

Our goal is to encourage learning and discipleship within real-life Christian community rather than simply watching events alone at home. If your church would like to explore becoming a regional hub, please get in touch.

Alternatively, if you’d like to host an in-person event in your city or town, we’d love to hear from you
